Turkey has discovered a new natural gas field in the Black Sea that will cover its energy needs for more than three years, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Saturday. "We have discovered 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas," he said. "With this volume, we will cover our household needs for about three and a half years," he added, estimating the value of the field at $30 billion.

"Our work on the Göktepe-3 well, which began on March 27 with our seventh-generation drilling ship Abdulhamid Han, was completed yesterday," the president explained. Turkey remains heavily dependent on imports to cover its energy needs, and Erdogan emphasized his country's commitment to achieving energy independence.

"We will continue our path without interruption or respite and without paying attention to criticism or obstacles until we achieve our goal of a Turkey with complete energy independence," he stressed.
